'Twas the night before kick-off…

’Twas the night before kick-off
When all through the land
Folks fixed fantasy teams,
And stocked fridges with cans;
Three months have dragged by,
Life was shunted off track,
But normalcy glints now
The Premier League’s back!

Granted, we’ve had MUCH bigger things on our minds but here we are . . .

The return of football.

With our collective appetite whet for the beautiful game, I thought it a fitting time to announce to the world — ‘announce’ may be a lofty word for this virgin blog-post — that I have written a football novel that I’ll be releasing in around a month’s time.

Yes, you read correctly — a football novel; not some sort of biography or history-of or trivia book. A fictional story set in the beautiful game.

I know there aren’t many of them but they exist. I’ll list a few, including movies for those who prefer that medium.

The last, partly based on true events, is probably the closest of those in tone to what I’ve written. That said, my editor said what I’ve written “is entirely its own beast!!”. And he meant it in a good way.

My novel, FOUL, is fast-moving and, unlike my tone here, goes to some pretty dark places.

I can’t wait to drag you and the rest of the world into them with me.
